Being
the major tea workers’ union of Barak Valley , Cachar Cha Srameek Union
has been negotiating with the owners’ Association for a new wage agreement
after the expiry of the old one. But Assam
Mojuri Srameek Union is of the opinion that
all unions small or big should be engaged in the wage negotiation process.
However, though Assam Mojuri Srameek Union is not averse to the damand raised
by Cachar Cha Srameek Union for the hike of wage of tea workers to the level of
the wages of West Bengal Tea Workers under the new wage agreement, Assam Mojuri
Srameek Union demands to include Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) component in
the wage structure and to keep the Nirikh(task) to the maximum of 18 Kg level. Union also demands that new Nirikh (task) structure needs
to be formulated considering the availability of tea-leaves and different
number of rounds during the different periods of the year and keeping the task
to maximum of 18 Kg.
Assam
Mojuri Srameek Union is determined to launch a vigorous movement, if the demand
for wage hike for tea workers is not met, and Union appeals to all other Unions
to come forward for a united movement to establish the tea workers’ rights.

আসাম মজুরি শ্রমিক ইউনিয়ন, শিলচরে যার কেন্দ্রীয় অফিস,
দীর্ঘদিন থেকে চা-শ্রমিক, এনরেগা শ্রমিক,
গ্রামীণ ও অন্যান্য অসংগঠিত শ্রমিকদের অধিকারের প্রশ্নে আন্দোলন চালিয়ে আসছে।
ইউনিয়ন চা-শ্রমিকদের সমহারে মজুরি এবং বর্তমান মজুরি বৃদ্ধি করে এনরেগা শ্রমিকদের
মজুরির সমান মজুরি প্রদানের দাবি লাগাতার জানিয়ে আসছে এবং এই দাবিতে ব্যাপক
প্রচারের সাথে সাথে সম্প্রতি সহকারী লেবার কমিশনারের অফিসের সম্মুখে বিক্ষোভ কর্মসূচীও
পালন করেছে। বর্তমানে বরাক উপত্যকার চা-শ্রমিকরা মাত্র ৫৫ টাকা পাচ্ছে, যখন
ব্রহ্মপুত্র উপত্যকায় একই কাজের জন্য একই শ্রমিকরা পাচ্ছে ৭১ টাকা।
চলতি চা-চুক্তির মেয়াদ শেষ হওয়ায়, চা-শ্রমিকদের বৃহৎ শ্রমিক
সংগঠন হিসেবে কাছার চা শ্রমিক ইউনিয়ন বর্তমানে মালিক পক্ষের সাথে নতুন মজুরি
চুক্তির জন্য আলোচনা চালাচ্ছে। আসাম মজুরি শ্রমিক ইউনিয়ন মনে করে ছোট, বড় সব
ইউনিয়নকেই এই আলোচনায় সামিল করা উচিত। তথাপি, পশ্চিমবঙ্গের নতুন চুক্তি মতে
সেখানকার চা-শ্রমিকদের জন্য যে নতুন মজুরি ধার্য করা হয়েছে সেই মজুরি আসামের
চা-শ্রমিকদেরও প্রদান করার জন্য কাছার চা-শ্রমিক ইউনিয়ন যে দাবি উত্থাপন করেছে,
আসাম মজুরি শ্রমিক ইউনিয়নের সে ব্যাপারে আপত্তি না থাকলেও মজুরি কাঠামোয়
পরিবর্তনশীল মহার্ঘভাতা (Variable Dearness
Allowance, VDA)
অন্তর্ভুক্ত করার ও নিরিখ (Task) সর্বোচ্চ ১৮ কেজি
রাখার দাবি জানাচ্ছে। উপরন্তু বছরের বিভিন্ন সময়ে পাতিতোলার রাউণ্ড (Round) ও উপলব্ধ
চা-পাতার পরিবর্তনকে বিবেচনায় রেখে এবং সর্বোচ্চ নিরিখ ১৮ কেজি ধরে বছরের বিভিন্ন
সময়ের নিরিখ কাঠামো নির্ধারিত করারও দাবি জানাচ্ছে।
চা-শ্রমিকদের মজুরি বৃদ্ধির দাবি পূরণ না হলে আসাম মজুরি
শ্রমিক ইউনিয়ন ব্যাপক আন্দোলন গড়ে তুলতে বদ্ধপরিকর এবং চা-শ্রমিকদের অধিকার আদায়ে
আসাম মজুরি শ্রমিক ইউনিয়ন অন্যান্য সব ইউনিয়নকে ঐক্যবদ্ধ আন্দোলন গড়ে তোলার জন্য
এগিয়ে আসার আহ্বান জানাচ্ছে।
